About me

Originally from the Beara Peninsula, West Cork, I grew up in a household where home cooking from scratch was the norm – whole fresh foods were the basis for every meal. Saturdays were Mom’s baking day – scones, bread, tarts, queen cakes. The kitchen counter was a feast for the eyes.

At the age of 11, I made the choice to stop eating meat and commenced my new journey. I have never looked back, no social media influencers, just me knowing how to listen to my body. I was (and am) blessed with the parents I had (have) as they never forced me to eat meat; simply encouraged me to appreciate a wide-range of veggies.

At the age of twenty I steered my course towards France where I met a charming Parisian who later became my husband. We lived there together for 13 years. Consequently, I can communicate with the French-speaking community and navigate the nuances of the language with ease of a native.

I quickly learned to appreciate la vie à la française. The culture of food is at the heart of the French mode de vie. There is a rich market tradition where fresh fruit and veg are displayed with pride by local growers. I discovered how important mealtimes are, from elaboration, to prepping, to tasting but especially taking time to enjoy a meal together. Food is also about sharing.

Fast-forward to our return to Ireland… I graduated with a PhD in Human Geography from UCC. My thesis is about cultural identity and how people give meaning to their everyday lived experiences. I also studied food geography, and consequently, I acknowledge the importance of local food production on our health and that of the planet. The rise of the ultra-processed "doof" industry led me to combine my expertise in food geography and nutrition.

I decided to take my life experience to another level to become an expert in nutrition. I graduated from the College of Naturopathic Medicine (CNM) as a Naturopathic Nutritional Therapist. I have always been passionate about nutrition and I believe that food has an impact on our physical, mental and emotional health and wellbeing.

My mission is to empower you to take (back) control of your health and wellbeing – physically, mentally and emotionally. I endeavour to guide and support you on your journey and to educate the wider public about the dangers of ultra-processed "doof" through my health campaign, conference presentations, and talks. I have a practical and no nonsense approach to nutrition.

I chose this path because I always knew that this was my life mission. I want everybody to be aware that being in optimal health is possible through quality nutrition and lifestyle choices.

By looking at what you eat as well as how you live, together we can implement changes to not only make you feel better, but feel great!

My mantra: “DIY Kitchen”. When you prepare and cook whole fresh food from scratch, you have the advantage of choosing your own,  best quality ingredients and flavouring meals to your liking.

My husband is a chef/raw chef and together we are a dynamic duo who will lead you back to your kitchen by providing fun workshops and delightful recipes. We want to encourage you to re-encounter nature’s food by re-awakening ALL your senses.
